An unresolved mandatory check means “hold,” not automatically “dishonest supplier.” Give the seller a precise opportunity to clarify it. A confirmed unacceptable arrangement means reject or redesign that commission.
| Mandatory check | Pass condition before deposit | Hold or reject condition |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Identifiable seller and payment recipient | Written order identifies the contracting business or proprietor, contact details, payee and person authorized to resolve problems; any different payee is explained | Unexplained payment recipient, no durable order record or nobody accepts contractual responsibility |
| 2. Feasible fitting route | The buyer knows who will assess fit, at which garment stages, where and with what authority to request substantive changes | Measurements followed only by finished-garment delivery, despite a brief requiring meaningful intermediate fittings |
| 3. Accessible correction process | Written steps explain assessment, alterations, remake or other agreed remedy, including exclusions, payer and timing | “We will look after you” without terms; a return-to-Vietnam remedy the buyer cannot realistically use |
| 4. Workable calendar | Cloth availability, production dependencies, appointments, final assessment and a delay contingency fit the buyer’s actual dates | Completion promise assumes every stage succeeds first time, or final assessment occurs immediately before departure with no fallback |
| 5. Agreed specification and truthful documentation | Cloth, construction, styling and process are recorded; substitutions require approval; invoice and declaration information must be accurate | Supplier reserves unrestricted substitution rights or proposes an inaccurate customs value or description |
| 6. Affordable, bounded exposure | Delivered-cost worksheet, payment milestones and correction scenarios are understood and acceptable to the buyer | Affordability depends on unverified duty-free treatment, unpriced extra travel or an unspecified correction bill |
Our difficult-fit rule: do not approve a first, fully remote bespoke commission when substantive fitting access is absent. A remote proposal can be reconsidered if it adds a credible fitting garment, qualified local assessment and an agreed route for structural changes. Treat that as a redesigned process, not a waiver.
